Treatment for My Music Video

Track Title: 'Red Hands'   Artist: Off The Wall    Actual Artist: Walk Off The Earth

Summary of video-A girl retaliates from an abusive relationship by pulling out a gun, she is scared/shocked by what she has done so tries to run away. However the band, acting as her conscience, follows her, reminding her of what she has done.

The first thing the audience will see is the abusive character shouting at someone, raising their hands about- being intimidating. I have chosen these images to convey the energy that I want the actor to show. The last picture shows an extreme close-up, I will use these throughout the section so the audience connect with the main character because they too experience the abuse and intimidation that she is experiencing.

The camera will then focus on the main character, who is obviously fed up with the abuse, she turns on the television in an attempt to block out the shouting. This is when we will see the band for the first time starting to sing the song from the screen of the TV. (This technique is used in many music videos such as, 'Hero'- Foo Fighters, 'Famous'- Scouting For Girls and 'Love is a Camera'- Sophie Ellis Bexter)

The abusive character will them come into the screen, blocking the picture of the band from the TV. He drags the girl outside and she pulls out a gun- Here I would like to use Alfred Hitchcock's 'Reverse Zoom' which gives the effect of everything growing smaller around the subject, this will emphasise the shock that will be portrayed on the girls face.

The girl then starts to run, however doesn't get far before she sees the band singing to her. This continues throughout the music video- every time the girl thinks she is clear of the band she ends up running into them again. I really want to show the girl's desperation as she runs, in order to do this I will use slow motion and lots of close-ups but also long shots to see how she pushes her body to the limits trying to run as fast as she can.

Every time the band is seen, the camera will linger on them for a few lines of the song to allow the audience to connect with them, get a sense of their style and demeanour.
Towards the closing of the video the band will be singing with red powder paint being thrown (tying into the song's title 'Red hands'), this will be mostly shown in slow motion to give a more dramatic effect. I have chosen these pictures to reflect the energy that will be portrayed in this section of the video and some of the types of shots I will use.
The video will end with the main character giving up and falling to the floor, the band will crowd around her (Point of view shot from main character's perspective-the camera will be looking up at the band members). The scene will then cut the main singer who will blow red glitter from her hand into the camera. The scene will cut to black to finish- giving the video the sense of dramatic finality.
